Artist's StudioArtist’s Statement

“I have created, designed, crafted, invented, constructed and fashioned things my  entire life.    Once I step into my studio and start working I become so immersed in my endeavor I lose track of time, and the rest of the world falls away for a while.”

 

Biography 

Sharon Wright Pound spent most of her formative years in Robinson, Illinois. In the late 70’s she and her family moved to the Washington DC area. Sharon lived eleven years in Africa and six years in Europe. She enjoys taking photographs while traveling. Her photos are the inspirations behind  many of her oil paintings. Sharon worked for the US Department of State for a number of years as Community Liaison Coordinator while overseas and as a Training Assistant at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center. She currently lives in Virginia with her husband. She attended George Mason University earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in painting. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
